I have been writing about how money moves in and out of gambling accounts since 2018, which is long enough to have watched POLi go from the default New Zealand deposit rail to a footnote, and long enough to be sceptical of any limit quoted without a date attached to it. How the figures on this site get checked
Every deposit floor, transaction ceiling and clearing time on this site is read off a funded New Zealand account held in NZ dollars. That means opening the cashier, attempting the transaction, and recording what the confirmation and the bank statement say — not paraphrasing a marketing page.
Where a claim comes from somewhere else, it is attributed in the text. Regulatory dates come from the Department of Internal Affairs and the legislation itself. Ownership and licensing details come from company filings and the public registers, all of which are linked from the sister sites page so you can check them without taking our word for it.
Where we are uncertain, we say so rather than rounding it into a confident number. A range with a date beats a precise figure with no provenance.
Reading the dates on a page
Every guide carries three dates in the byline at the foot of the page. They mean different things and it is worth knowing which one you are looking at.
Published
When the page first went up. It never changes, so you can see how long we have been covering the topic.
Updated
The last time the content substantively changed — a limit moved, a method was added or removed, a rule came into force.
Checked
The last time the figures were verified and found unchanged. A recent check date with an older update date means we looked and nothing had moved.
Payments, withdrawal times and minimum deposit get reviewed roughly monthly, because rails and limits genuinely move. The status page is looked at more often than that. If a date looks stale to you, treat the figure as indicative and check it in the cashier before you rely on it.
