Review Methodology
The casino review methodology behind this 888casino guide for New Zealand players: where each figure comes from, how it is dated, how the six rating criteria are weighted and how mistakes are put right.
- One named editor on every page
- Primary sources only, from 888casino itself
- Dated log of corrections on this page
- Every figure traces to a document 888casino publishes, not to forums or memory.
- Each page shows when it was published, changed and last checked.
- Changes to figures are logged on this page with the date.
Who we are
This site is a guide to 888casino for people in New Zealand. It is not the casino, it has no access to anyone's account, and it cannot approve, speed up or reverse a payment. What it can do is read the operator's own documents carefully and tell you what they say, in plain English, with the date we read them.
The guides are written and checked by one person, Nadia Kirkwood, the Payments & Payouts Editor, based in Wellington. Nadia Kirkwood has covered deposits, withdrawals and account checks since 2018, so each page is shaped by what New Zealand players run into: the account currency, what the bank does with a card payment, and why a first withdrawal asks for documents.
If a page carries a name, that person did the reading. The full profile is on the About page.
Nadia Kirkwood
Payments & Payouts Editor, Wellington. Writing about payments since 2018.
Covers deposits, withdrawals and account checks for New Zealand players. Every figure on this site comes from 888casino's own terms, banking pages and App Store listing, checked on the dates shown.
Testing protocol: our casino review methodology in practice
The protocol is a reading discipline. It has five steps, and each page on the site went through all of them.
Start from the operator's documents
The user agreement, the bonus policy, the deposit limits and withdrawal time-frames pages, the list of accepted payment methods, the licensing page and the App Store listing. Nothing comes from a forum thread or from memory.
Record the source and the day
A figure is only kept if we can say which page it came from and when we read it. That day becomes the check date in the byline of the guide.
Say so when 888casino's pages disagree
The welcome offer is shown as a 100% match up to €500 on one page and up to US$200 on an older one, and the games count appears as 2,000+ in one place and a larger number in another. In those cases the guide gives the terms in your cashier currency, uses the lower games figure and points you to the live promotions page.
Confirm the operator with a second source
The company and licence numbers on 888casino.com are matched against the Gibraltar government's list of approved brands. The New Zealand position is read from the Department of Internal Affairs page on online casino gambling, not from commentary about it.
Re-read on a schedule
Payments, withdrawal times and minimum deposit pages go back through the same steps about once a month, since limits and methods move. The status page gets a faster check cycle.
Two limits worth knowing. We do not time payouts with our own money, so every processing time in the guide is the one 888casino publishes. And the public pages cannot show which methods your own cashier offers, because 888casino decides that per country inside the account. Where that matters, the guide says "check in the cashier".
How we correct mistakes
A guide full of numbers will sometimes be wrong, either because we misread a page or because 888casino changed it after we checked. The fix has to be quick and visible.
- When a figure no longer matches the source, the page is changed as soon as the difference is confirmed on 888casino's own page.
- The "last updated" and "checked" dates in the byline move forward on that page.
- Any change to a figure, a name, a payment method or a date is entered in the log below. Typo and wording fixes are not logged.
- 13 October 2026
- All guides rewritten against 888casino's own pages. Figures that could not be traced to a source were removed, including a licence from a different regulator, a larger games count and a welcome offer in NZ dollars.
- 13 October 2026
- This methodology page published. No other corrections are logged since.
Rating criteria with weights
We do not publish a score for 888casino. We do use six criteria to decide what each guide must cover, and they carry the weights below.
- 20 points
Operator and licence
Is the operating company named, which licence does it hold, and can you find it on the regulator's own list? For 888casino that is Virtual Global Digital Services Limited, licensed in Gibraltar.
- 20 points
Payments and payouts
Methods, minimum amounts, published processing times, first-withdrawal checks and what your bank may charge. See payments and withdrawal time.
- 20 points
Bonus terms
Wagering, expiry, caps on spin winnings, excluded payment methods and whether the terms sit where a player can find them.
- 15 points
Games
How the operator describes its lobby, whether the claim is specific, and what is exclusive to the brand.
- 15 points
Support and verification
Hours and channels of support, and how clearly the identity checks are explained before you need them.
- 10 points
Player protection
The age limit, the responsible-gambling pages and whether help for New Zealand, such as the Problem Gambling Foundation, is easy to reach.
Money matters carry the most weight because that is where New Zealand players get surprised. Games carry less because taste varies. Try your own weighting below: pick a score from 1 to 5 for each criterion and the total updates. It is a demonstration of how weights add up. Nothing is saved, and the result is yours, not a verdict on 888casino.
Weights add up to 100 points.
Weighted score: 3.0 / 5, which is 60 / 100.
Biggest drag on your total: none yet. Change a score to see it.
Who this is not for
The guide is narrow on purpose. It will not suit you if you are:
- looking for a league table or a ranking of casinos. This site covers 888casino only and does not compare it with other brands.
- hoping for help with a stuck payment, a closed account or a verification dispute. Only 888casino can act on those, through its 24/7 live chat.
- under 18. 888casino accepts players from 18, and the guide is written for adults.
- expecting a prediction. Nothing on this page tells you whether you will win.
- wanting figures in NZ dollars. 888casino has no NZ dollar wallet, so all amounts stay in the account currency.
If gambling has started to cause you stress, money trouble or arguments at home, the Problem Gambling Foundation at pgf.nz offers free support in New Zealand.
Myths and misconceptions
- Myth
A high review score means a casino is safe
A score summarises documents. It cannot tell you how your own withdrawal will go, and it is no replacement for reading the bonus terms you are about to accept.
- Myth
This site can look up my account
It cannot. It has no link to 888casino's systems, and nothing you read here is tied to your login or balance.
- Myth
The biggest bonus gets the best rating
Bonus terms carry 20 of 100 points, the same as payments and the licence. A large headline match with strict wagering can score below a smaller one that is easy to read.
- Myth
A licence number means a New Zealand regulator is watching
A licence names the regulator that issued it. 888casino's are Gibraltar licences, and New Zealand's own regime for private operators is still being phased in. Read who operates the site before you assume anything either way.
Contact
We do not run a public mailbox or phone line, so there is no queue to join. For anything that involves your account, the party that can act is 888casino, and its live chat, open 24/7 in your account, is the channel it provides.
Corrections to this guide are handled in the open instead: when something changes, it is logged on this page with the date, and the page it affects shows a new check date. The status page covers whether 888casino itself is working right now.
- Account, payment or verification problem
- 888casino 24/7 live chat
- Error in this guide
- Logged on this page with its date
- Who writes the guides
- Nadia Kirkwood, Wellington
Review methodology FAQ
What is the review methodology behind this guide?
Every figure is taken from a document 888casino publishes, such as its user agreement, bonus policy, banking pages, licensing page and NZ App Store listing. The source and the day it was read are noted, disputed figures are labelled, and any correction is logged on this page with its date.
Do you play on 888casino with your own money to test it?
No. The guide is built on published documents, not on stopwatch tests. Withdrawal times, for example, are the time-frames 888casino lists, not payouts we timed ourselves. Your own first deposit and first withdrawal will show you how long things take on your bank and your method.
Why is there no star rating or score for 888casino?
One number hides the points that differ from player to player: account currency, bank, payment method and how you read bonus terms. The pages list facts with dates instead, and the calculator on this page lets you weigh the six criteria the way you would.
How can I tell whether a figure is out of date?
Look at the byline at the foot of the page. It shows when the page was published, when it last changed in substance and when its figures were last checked against 888casino. If the date is old and a figure matters to you, compare it with the live 888casino page before you act.
Can you help with a problem on my account?
No. We are a guide, not the operator, and we cannot see or change any account. For deposits, withdrawals, verification or account questions, use the 24/7 live chat inside your 888casino account.
Why are amounts shown in USD, EUR, GBP or CAD and not NZ dollars?
Because 888casino lists those four account currencies and no NZ dollar wallet. We never convert figures into NZ dollars, since the rate and any bank fee depend on your bank on the day.
Read the guide, then check the source
Every page here points back to 888casino's own documents, so the quickest check is to open the site and compare.
